Three-year part-time programme – starting September 2009.
Designed to provide students with skills required to work in the challenging global economy.
Given the considerable growth in international business, the development of an adequate framework for developing and conducting the relationships with supply chain partners is considered a key success factor.
Great emphasis in the programme is put on cross cultural aspects in business. Therefore, it is an ideal programme for those who want to work in firms serving international markets and dealing with partners, customers and/or suppliers with different cultural backgrounds.
Working language
English. Good command of English is therefore of vital importance.
Programme outline
Module 1: Individual Competence Development: Theoretical and practical foundations for understanding individual competence development
Module 2: Logistics – Supply Chain Management: Different organization forms of business-to-business transactions and cooperation, and enhancing students’ skills in applying supply chain management theory in practice
Module 3: Cross-Cultural Aspects in Business: Different approaches towards the application of culture, theories which arise from managing across cultures, and how culture and communication affect international business negotiations
Module 4: Research Methodology: Necessary information, understanding and skills to do a master’s degree thesis
Module 5: Master’s Thesis / Dissertation
Workshops
Twelve workshops/joint sessions will be held; from two up to four days. Ten workshops will take place in Harstad - two in cooperation with partner institutions in Russia/Germany.
Target group
The programme is relevant for ambitious employees in any firm or organization looking for new international opportunities, such as construction, oil and gas, engineering, seafood, logistics- and transportation, manufacturing and tourism.
The programme has a high North-perspective. Relevant issues within logistics and cross cultural business which are of particular importance for conducting business in northern Europe, including Russia, will be emphasized.
Student fees
Registration fee is presently NOK 605,- (approximately Euro 75). Additional costs: Literature plus travel/accommodation during sessions.

Forkunnskaper
Bachelor degree - minimum 60 ECTS credits within subjects of economics and business administration. Additionally: At least two years of relevant work experience.
