Kurs: Norwegian language courses in Drammen

Alfa Skolen is officially recognized as a private provider of 300 hours of approved tuition in the Norwegian language and Norwegian social studies by:
VOX, the Norwegian Agency for Lifelong Learning, an agency of the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research. (www.vox.no)

We offer Norwegian language courses on 3 levels:
NORWEGIAN 1: using books called "På Vei".
NORWEGIAN 2: using books called "Stein på Stein".
NORWEGIAN 3: using books called "Her på Berget".
Every level consists of 3 courses. Books can be purchased at our school or most bookshops.

The lessons exist of group work, roleplay, individual work, discussion, listening exercises and homework. Our teachers are able to speak different languages, but during lessons they will only speak Norwegian, which will only contribute to better and faster results in learning the language.

Our courses:

NORWEGIAN 1A

This course is suitable for those who have minimal knowledge of Norwegian and want to start learning it from the start. Topics covered: Personal presentation, greetings, names of countries and languages, names of professions, questions about things and names of things, room description, the weather, names of days, telling the time, food and drinks, ordering in a café, daily routines, expressing wishes and needs.

This course covers chapter 1-6 of the book "På Vei".


NORWEGIAN 1B

This course is suitable for those who have little basic knowledge of Norwegian from before or those who have completed NORWEGIAN course 1A at our school. Topics covered: Plans and intentions, names of months and seasons, holiday, booking a ticket, asking about the way, information about Norway.

This course covers chapter 7-11 of the book "På vei".


NORWEGIAN 1C

This course is suitable for those who have basic knowledge of Norwegian from before or those who have completed NORWEGIAN course 1B at our school. Topics covered: Education system in Norway, health, making an appointment with a doctor, body parts, housing conditions, my flat, festivities and holidays in Norway, professional experience, composing a CV and application letter.

This course covers chapter 12-17 of the book "På vei".


NORWEGIAN 2A

This course is suitable for those who have reasonable basic knowledge of Norwegian from before or those who have completed NORWEGIAN course 1C at our school. This course will improve your oral and written skills based on the knowledge of level 1. You will review grammar and extend vocabulary on: family, family structure and family ties, human relations, future plans, work experience, employment possibilities and work environment, education: school structure and subjects, purchase and sales of real estates, everyday expenditures, local environment, health, food habits, mass media.

This course covers chapter 1-5 of the book "Stein på Stein".


NORWEGIAN 2B

This course is suitable for those who have good basic knowledge of Norwegian from before or those who have completed NORWEGIAN course 2A at our school. Topics covered: Norway in the past, life in the city and on the countryside, class differences, emigration and immigration, society structure, folktales and beliefs. The main focus in this course is on oral exercises and discussions.

This course covers chapter 6-10 of the book "Stein på Stein".


NORWEGIAN 2C

This course is suitable for those who have good basic knowledge of Norwegian from before or those who have completed NORWEGIAN course 2B at our school. Topics covered: Norway in the past and present, economical and political relations, sectors of the economy, welfare state, medical care, human rights, the freedom of speech, equality of rights.
After this level you can take up the first exam in the Norwegian language (Språkprøve).

This course covers chapter 11-14 of the book "Stein på Stein".


NORWEGIAN 3A

This course is suitable for those who have advanced basic knowledge of Norwegian or those who have completed NORWEGIAN course 2C at our school. You will work on more complex texts and discuss topics about the Norwegian society and environment. Topics covered: Norway on the world map, Norway – multicultural society: friendship and human relations, communication, mass media, natural environment.

This course covers chapter 1-5 of the book "Her på Berget".


NORWEGIAN 3B

This course is suitable for those who have excellent basic knowledge of Norwegian or those who have completed NORWEGIAN course 3A at our school. Topics covered:
Crime and Norwegian system of justice, man and natural environment, Norwegian history.

This course covers chapter 6-9 of the book "Her på Berget".


NORWEGIAN 3C

This course is suitable for those who have excellent basic knowledge of Norwegian or those who have completed NORWEGIAN course 3B at our school. Topics covered:
Norwegian art, contemporary history, education system, medical care, political relations and international cooperation.

This course covers chapter 10-14 of the book "Her på Berget".

Stedsbeskrivelse

Our courses in Drammen take place on Tordenskioldsgate 26, only a 4 minutes' walk from Drammen train station.

Sertifisering :
After having completed at least 80 % of the course, the participant will receive an official course certificate which is recognized by the Norwegian authorities.
