Overview
This 4-day workshop introduces you to various Sun GlassFish Enterprise Server (GlassFish) concepts and functions ranging from introductory to advanced and provides you with hands-on experience via remote labs for configuring, administering, and deploying web applications, EJB applications, and web services on GlassFish.
Based on Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE), GlassFish lets you deploy services ranging from simple web applications to enterprise-scale applications and web services including applications based on JavaServer Pages (JSP pages), JavaServer Faces, servlets, and Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) technology.
Through a combination of instructor-led modules and hands-on labs, you are introduced to the Developer, Cluster and Enterprise profiles. You learn to configure, administer, and deploy web applications, EJB applications, and web services on GlassFish using these profiles and to enable various advanced GlassFish features, such as in-memory replication, high availability database (HADB), load balancing, monitoring and logging, clustering, and security.
For the most part, this workshop uses the term GlassFish v2 to cover both the open-source application server, GlassFish v2, and its commercial distribution, Sun Java System Application Server (Application Server) 9.1. In places where the discussion differs between the two distributions, the course refers specifically to either GlassFish v2 or Application Server 9.1.
Please note: This workshop does not cover Java EE development concepts. This topic is covered in other Sun courses. The hands-on labs offered in this course might involve accessing equipment that resides at a location other than where the training is delivered.

Students who can benefit from this course are support engineers, system engineers, professional services consultants, application developers, architects, and other technical personnel.
