Other education: First Aid Responder Zoom

First Aid Response (FAR) delivered by a PHECC recognised instructor affilated with Qualtec. It is delivered 2 days live over zoom and then 1 day in person.

This course is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to be a First Aid Responder.

Following the FAR course participants should be able to:

• Deal with life-threatening or potentially life-threatening conditions until the arrival of emergency medical services
• Provide an adequate response for conditions not thought to be life-threatening but are necessary to prevent further harm before the emergency medical services arrive
• Provide first-aid in a wide range of environments including the workplace, home and recreational settings
• Display the requisite personal skills including composure, competence and self-confidence while understanding their limitations

Course Duration- 3 days 9:30am- 4:30pm

Day 1- Zoom class

• Patient Assessment
• Incident Procedure
• CPR and use of an AED
• Choking
• Heart Attack
• Stroke

Day 2 - Zoom class

• Common Medical Emergencies
• Injury Management
• Care of the unconscious patient
• Burns & Electrical Injury
• Hypothermia & Hyperthermia
• Information Management
• Well being of the First Aid Responder

Day 3 - In person

• Practice of practical skills of everything learned on the previous 2 days
• Test & Assessment of:

1. CPR and using an AED
2. Heart Attack
3. Stroke
4. Bleeding and Shock
5. Fracture

This course consists of 5 practical skills assessments and a written 20 question exam. Participants must attain 60% in all assessments in order to achieve certification.

On completion of this course participants will receive a certificate from PHECC and it will need to be updated every two years.
