Det vanligste flysertifikatet er privatflygersertifikat PPL (A). Ved å ta privatflygersertifikatet PPL (A) får du normalt rett til å fly en-motors landfly med stempelmotor opp til 5700kg sertifisert for en flyger. Du har lov til å ta med passasjerer og fly i hele verden med dette sertifikatet, men ikke tjene penger på flyvingen. Å ta privatflygersertifikatet er en fin grunnutdanning til å bli yrkesflyger. For å bli privatflyger kan du begynne utdannelsen din allerede ved fylte 15 år, men sertifikatet kan du først få utstedt etter du er blitt 17 år. Veien mot flysertifikatet starter med en legesjekk. Videre må du gjennom teoretisk undervisning, enten som nettkurs eller ved å delta på et kurs ved en flyskole. Noen gjennomfører både nettbasert undervisning og kurs ved en flyklubb for å få maksimalt utbytte av studiene. Teamene i teorien omfatter aerodynamikk, meteorologi, navigasjon, fly og motorlære, operasjonelle prosedyrer og flymedisin. Etter fullført kurs må du bestå en teoriprøve for Luftforsvaret og en teoriprøve i radiotelefoni. Videre må du gjennom den praktiske biten av utdannelsen, som består av minst 45 flytimer. Den praktiske utdanningen avsluttes med en skjolesjekk og en praktisk prøve.
Normalt tar det totalt 6 til 12 måneder å få setifikatet som privatflyger. Utanningen tar du på den flytypen du ønsker å fly. Skal du fly en annen flytype i etterkant, må du ta en tilleggsutdanning på denne flytypen. Ønsker du å kunne fly i mørke, kan du ta en videreutdanning for dette. For holders of a MEP or SEP IR rating we offer simulator refresher training before you attempt the Profiency Check. The PC must be done in an aircraft with an approved examiner. For JAR-OPS operators we offer training in the BE200 FNPT-II simulator for emergency and normal procedures that are dangerous or impossible to practice in the aircraft.
