Python is an object oriented rapid development language deployed in many scenarios in the modern world. [+]
COURSE OVERVIEW   This Python Programming 1 course is designed to give delegates the knowledge to develop and maintain Python scripts using the current version (V3) of Python. There are many similarities between Python V2 and Python V3. The skills gained on this course will allow the delegate to develop their own skills further using Python V2 or V3 to support the development and maintenance of scripts. The Python Programming 1 course comprises sessions dealing with syntax, variables and data types, operators and expressions, conditions and loops, functions, objects, collections, modules and packages, strings, pattern matching, exception handling, binary and text files, and databases. Exercises and examples are used throughout the course to give practical hands-on experience with the techniques covered. TARGET AUDIENCE The Python Programming 1 course course is aimed at those who want to improve their Python programming skills, and for developers/engineers who want to migrate to Python from another language, particularly those with little or no object-oriented knowledge. For those wishing to learn Python and have no previous knowledge of programming, they should look to attend our foundation course Introduction to Programming - Python. COURSE OBJECTIVES This course aims to provide the delegate with the knowledge to be able to produce Python scripts and applications that exploit all core elements of the language including variables, expressions, selection and iteration, functions, objects, collections, strings, modules, pattern matching, exception handling,I/O,and classes. The SQL Master Class for Java Developers training is aimed to level up your SQL skills with techniques such as Window Functions, recursive queries, Pivoting, JSON process... [+]
Throughout four years of teaching my High-Performance Java Persistence course, I came to realize that there is so much Java developers can learn about the latest SQL features introduced by Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.This training spans over the course of 2 days and covers the Top 4 relational database systems: Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.From execution plans to the best way to paginate data, this training explains lesser-known techniques such as LATERAL JOIN, CROSS APPLY, as well as Derived Tables, Common Table Expressions, recursive queries, and the amazing Window Functions, PIVOT, or UPSERT statements.Last but not least, we are going to learn that, not only modern databases support JSON column types, but you can combine JSON structures with the traditional relational ones, therefore getting the best of both worlds. All examples are inspired by real-life scenarios, and they come in a GitHub repository for which attendees have exclusive and unlimited time access. At the end of these two days of training, the attendees will be better prepared to solve various data-intensive tasks using all these awesome SQL features that have been over the past 20 years.Agenda  Day 1Introduction - 1h 30m    - Beyond SQL:92    - SQL Parsing    - SQL Operation Order    - TOP-N queries    - OFFSET pagination    - Keyset PaginationSubqueries - 1h 15m    - EXISTS and NOT EXISTS    - IN and NOT IN    - ANY and ALL    - INSERT with subqueries    - Aggregation with subqueries   Joins - 1h 15m    - CROSS JOIN    - INNER and LEFT/RIGHT OUTER JOIN    - FULL OUTER JOIN    - NATURAL JOIN    - LATERAL JOIN and CROSS APPLYDay 2Window Functions - 1h 30m    - Analytics queries and window frame processing    - ROW_NUMBER, RANK, and DENSE_RANK    - FIRST_VALUE, LAST_VALUE, LEAD and LAG    - CUME_DIST and PERCENT_RANK    - PERCENTILE_DISC and PERCENTILE_CONTDerived Tables, CTE, Hierarchical Queries - 1h 30m    - Derived Tables    - CTE (Common Table Expressions)    - Recursive CTE    - Hierarchical queries   PIVOT, UNPIVOT, FILTER, and CASE - 1h    - CASE Expressions    - PostgreSQL FILTER Expressions    - PIVOT    - UNPIVOTDay 3UPSERT and MERGE - 30m- MERGE statements- UPSERT statements   JSON processing - 1h 30m    - Schemaless data structures and JSON    - JSON queries    - EAV Model   Transactions and Concurrency Control - 2h    - ACID, 2PL, MVCC    - Isolation Levels and anomalies    - Pessimistic and optimistic locking    - SKIP_LOCKED, NOWAIT [-]

Sound familiar? I’m not sure what software architecture is about, and how it’s any different from design. My manager has told me that I’m the software architect on our new project, but I’m not sure what that actually means. I want to get involved in designing software but I’m not sure what I should learn. I’ve been given some requirements and asked to design some software, but I’m not sure where to start. I’ve been asked to write a software architecture document but I’m not sure what to include in it. I’m not sure who to talk to in my organisation about how best to integrate what we’re building. I understand what software architecture is all about, but I’m not sure how to tackle it on my project. My project seems like a chaotic mess; everybody is doing their own thing and there’s no shared vision. Help! Is this the course for you?Designing software given a vague set of requirements and a blank sheet of paper is a good skill to have, although not many people get to do this on a daily basis. However, with agile methods encouraging collective ownership of the code, it’s really important that everybody on the team understands the big picture. In order to do this, you need to understand why you’ve arrived at the design that you have.In a nutshell, everybody on the team needs to be a software architect. This is a two-day training course about pragmatic software architecture, designed by software architects that code. It will show you what “just enough” up front design is, how it can be applied to your software projects and how to communicate the big picture through a collection of simple, effective sketches. Aimed at software developers, it fills the gap between software development and high-level architecture that probably seems a little “enterprisey” for most developers.  Our Approach to TrainingThe course is interactive, with a combination of presentation, group discussion and group working. Throughout the course you’ll solidify everything you learn by defining the architecture for a small software system through a series of exercises focused around a software design exercise and case study. Is there a practical element?Yes, you’ll be broken up into groups and asked to design a small software system from nothing but a set of requirements and a whiteboard. This includes: Defining the architecture for the case study solution. Deciding on the technologies that would be used to implement it. Drawing up different views of the architecture to illustrate the software components and their interactions. Assessing and justifying that the architecture will satisfy the functional and non-functional requirements. Comparing and reviewing what each of the groups has come up with; discussing the choice of technologies, diagram notation and process used to define the architecture.   [-]
