Subsea completions are frequently used in field developments. Today, there are more than 500 subsea wells in on the NCS. Prognosis suggests that about 80% of new wells on the NCS will be subsea wells. This course is an introduction to the main systems and components used in a subsea field development.The course addresses the following topics, in various degrees of depth and details:
Field development: History of subsea, from single well tie-backs to stand-alone subsea developments
Subsea production system architecture: Templates-configuration, installation, leveling, anchoring, pipeline tie-ins
Subsea production systems: Application of subsea systems. Christmas trees-configuration, connectors, installations, testing, operations. Subsea valves and valve actuators. Subsea separation.
Subsea Control: Control and monitoring of seabed equipment. Production and workover control systems. Connectors. Control valves. Functional requirements.
Production strategy and calculations of subsea wells and subsea fields: Effects of number of wells, well spread, flowline and pipeline size, field export strategy
Flow assurance and flow management in subsea systems: Hydrate prevention and mitigation, erosion and corrosion, slugging, sand depositions, paraffin and asphaltene depositions
SURF: Flowlines and risers, installation, commissioning, pigging, monitoring
Metering: Multiphase and wet gas metering
Subsea Processing & Boosting: Processing and Multiphase-inline boosting and compression
Marine environment: Introduction to the marine environment-waves, currents, winds, mud-line (seabed) and marine geo-technology. Environmental data collection and seabed surveys
Drilling and completion of subsea wells: Subsea well constructions-Drilling procedures from floating vessels, subsea drilling equipment (rig equipment, riser, BOP, mud processing), pressure control, Wellheads equipment-configurations, installation, sealing technology, casing hanging technology. casing/Liner, cementing and well completions
Subsea well intervention Systems: Categories of subsea well intervention systems, Wireline, Coiled tubing, jointed pipes.
Marine operations: Subsea installations, ROV capabilities and operations
The course can be part of NTNU's Master of Sciece in Oil and Gas Technology.Location and date
